"The Sandlot almost does for baseball what A Christmas Story does for the holiday season. Evans clearly can still feel what it was like to be a kid, and his silly impetuousness gives his film its charm."

Together they go on a series of funny and touching adventures. The boys run into trouble when Smalls borrows a ball from his stepdad that gets hit over a fence.
